Ash Grunwald – Live in The Glen

Renowned for his electrifying live shows, Ash Grunwald has inspired a generation to hit the road in an old van to ‘surf by day jam by night’. The festival favourite brings a high energy, vibrant live show with stacks of guitars and foot stomping blues. Part troubadour, part storyteller – Ash has been selling out shows all over the country, don’t miss this one.

A career spanning 12 studio albums, six Australian Top-50 albums, five ARIA and four AIR Award Nominations, two APRA Awards, and gong for Best International Act at the LA Music Critic Awards in 2014, Grunwald has cemented his status as one of Australia’s most exciting and entertaining live musicians.

Known for a number of hit collaborations with the who’s who of Australian music throughout his career (Josh Teskey, Kasey Chambers, Scott & Andy from The Living End, Vika & Linda Bull, Joe Bonamassa, add more here) his album “Push The Blues Away” with Josh Teskey hit #8 on the ARIA charts and toured sold out theatres including The Forum, Melbourne Recital Centre & Sydney Recital Hall  in 2020.

Throughout his career, he has supported legends James Brown, The Black Keys, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, and Keith Urban, among numerous others, and played sold out festivals across Europe, Japan, and North America as-well as 10 invitations to Australia’s most renowned festival Bluesfest.

Ash released his first literary endeavour in 2019, Surf By Day, Jam By Night. Published by Pantera Press, the book embarks upon a journey to the depths of success, spirit, and soul. Mike Elrington – Live in The Glen

Mike Elrington is a gifted singer songwriter with incredible guitar skills.

Standing at almost two metres tall, delivering his signature, gut-wrenching vocals like an instrument all on its own, very few people forget a performance from this man.

The commitment to his live shows and the well-earned reputation for leaving nothing behind but sweat has seen him invited to perform at some of Australia’s finest festivals, including the iconic Byron Bay BluesFest, Bendigo, Sydney Blues and Roots Festivals and Blues on Broadbeach to name but a few. 

Elrington has proven himself as one the hardest-working artists currently on the Australian scene, and over the last 17 years since the inception of his career as an 18-year old in Adelaide, has released 9 albums and toured excessively throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

An eclectic, passionate and relentless mix of acoustic blues, rock and folk. This man plays and sings like wildfire. 

The evenings entertainment will begin with a Community BBQ followed by a night of music not to be missed.

Musical Theatre Masterclass

Presented By Gippsland Performing Arts Centre and Federation University

Are you aged 15 to 22 and have a passion for musicals? Would you like to spend a day being coached by two of Australia’s leading musical theatre artists? 

Wednesday 10 July 2024 | 11am | Town Hall Theatre 

Led by two of Australia’s leading musical theatre artists – Dan Tusjak (Lecturer in Music Theatre Federation University), and Ant Crowley (Musical Director – NIDA, WAAPA, VCA and Disney), This group masterclass is a unique opportunity for young regional performers to gain insight into the professional world of musicals and storytelling though song.  

This group masterclass is a unique opportunity for young regional performers to gain insight into the professional world of musicals and storytelling though song.

To participate – you will need to bring along a selection of no less than three, no more than eight songs, that you know well – and their sheet music, in the correct key.

You will not require a backing track, there will be an accompanist. Through-out the masterclass you will participate in ensemble singing skills as well as having the opportunity to perform solo. You will be introduced to techniques used by professional performing artists as well as receiving advice on developing a career in the music theatre industry.

 To get the most out of this workshop you should bring songs that are appropriate for your voice type and age. You will also need to bring an open mind and be ready to try new ideas and diverse ways of rehearsing a song. It will help if you are ready to step outside of your ‘comfort zone’ just a little.

NOTE: Please come dressed in comfortable clothing you can move in. There will be a meal break between 1pm and 2pm, please BYO lunch, snacks, water bottle and sheet music. No need for backing tracks. The workshop will have an accompanist.
