NGV Kids on Tour 2025

Make and create when National Gallery of Victoria Kids on Tour comes to you these school holidays. From cat and dog ears you can wear, to flower pompoms and paper moths – there’s art to make for every age.

Through free workshops and activities, NGV Kids on Tour aims to share the joys of art-making with children and families across Victoria by partnering with Latrobe Regional Gallery over the summer holiday period. Program attendees can enjoy a range of activities developed by the NGV in collaboration with inspiring artists and designers from around the world, which provide the opportunity to spark creative thinking and self-expression.

Furry Friend Headband
Dalmatians, tabby cats and labradoodles! Cats and dogs come in many different colours, patterns, shapes and sizes.
Celebrating the NGV exhibition Cats & Dogs, children can draw fur and other details inspired by their favourite pets on a set of cat or dog ears they can wear.
Creating these furry headbands will stimulate young minds, encouraging play, imagination and creativity.

Fashion, Culture & Creativity with Collective Closets
Melbourne-based fashion designers and sisters Fatuma and Laurinda Ndenzako celebrate the beauty and history of the African continent with their slow fashion label, Collective Closets.
In this activity, children create a paper doll and design sets of paper clothes to make its own wardrobe. Mix and match your paper clothes and accessories to make endless creative outfit combinations while learning about fashion, design, colour and patterns.

Lots of Dots with Yayoi Kusama
Pumpkins often appear in Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s artworks. This activity introduces children and families to one of the world’s leading contemporary artists, and invites children to add their favourite colourful dots and write a short poem or message about pumpkins.

Bogong Moths and native pompoms workshop
Discover interesting facts about Bogong Moths, how they avoid predators, and their important place in our natural environment and get inspired by our Australian flora to design a bush flower pompom.
Join us at Latrobe Regional Gallery to have fun with these two activities designed by Dr Deanne Gilson and Sophie Honess, two first nation artists who are part of the NGV Kids on Tour program.
The session will start with a short tour of one of the current exhibitions, ngaratya (together, us group, all in it together) to give you inspiration for the activity! Free, all welcome.
NGV Kids on Tour is an initiative of the National Gallery of Victoria. NGV extends sincerest thanks to Event Partner Officeworks, for their generous support of NGV Kids exhibitions and programs.

Ross Noble – Cranium of Curiosities

Roll up, roll up! Or use a more conventional form of transport to get to the show.  It’s entirely your choice. Unless you accidentally become trapped in a barrel*. Should that happen, then just find an incline and start rolling to see the one and only Ross Noble!

Thursday 8 May, 2025 | 8pm | GPAC Main Theatre

He is the Wizard of Waffle, The Rambler Royale, The Noodlers’ Noodler, and he’s back live on stage to tour a tornado of tangents.

What the show will be about is anybody’s guess, but that’s all part of the fun when you look inside his Cranium of Curiosities.

*We strongly advise trying not to get trapped in a barrel before or during the performance.  Despite the expression “barrel of laughs,” it may impede your enjoyment of the show and potentially anger a cooper**.

**barrel maker. We are fairly certain the mascara mishap music maker Alice Cooper would be fine with it.
