Meet the Artist: Sarah Tomasetti

Join artist Sarah Tomasetti and Exhibitions Curator Juan Rodriguez Sandoval in conversation as they discuss the imaginative, scientifically driven and ambitious exhibition, Geo-luminescence. In this conversation they will be speaking to the exhibition’s origin, site-specific and responsive iteration to the Latrobe Valley alongside the evolution of Sarah’s earth-based and pigment focused practice.

Sarah describes Geo-luminescence as a phenomenon that “occurs where the hydrosphere and the sedimentary meet, when one becomes the other, and plant and animal life grow in the fertile margin.” Sarah has developed a profound interest in geological materials such as limestone putty, carbon carbonate, pigments and beeswax; rendering her work translucent and revealing unique pigment patterning that echoes sliced rock, marble and other geological formations.

Meet the Artist(s) is a series of free, casual and conversational artist talks, that encourage public participation and interaction. Meet the Artist(s) aims to present a format that is accessible, supportive and empowering for the Latrobe City community.
