Join New Zealand-Australian artist Michele Beevors and Exhibitions Curator Juan Rodriguez Sandoval in a thrilling conversation behind the intriguing, mysterious and curious inspirations and themes behind Anatomy Lessons. Discover how these sculptures were made, how they came to be, and what they seek to represent and reveal about ourselves.
Meet the Artist(s) is a series of free, casual and conversational artist talks, that encourage public participation/interaction, and aim to present a format that is accessible, supportive and empowering to our community in the Latrobe City Council, and communities beyond.
Arca Arcade: Round One creator Preston McNeil guides participants in building their own arcade-style joystick controller. Each plug-and-play kit includes all components needed to assemble a PC-compatible controller. After building, participants are introduced to DIY arcade software, test their controller, and take it home. No technical experience is required, and teams of two are welcome. Adult supervision is required for participants under 14.

Preston McNeil traces four decades of arcade culture, examining the design evolution behind Arca Arcade: Round One. Drawing on a lifelong relationship with arcade gaming, he explores the creative methodologies, technical experimentation, and nostalgic touch points that informed the project. This reflection reveals the experiences behind the exhibition’s realisation while offering practical insight into DIY arcade building.

Arca Arcade: Round One creator Preston McNeil presents a Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting tournament. Compete head-to-head in classic side-by-side arcade style against top local players. The event begins with a round-robin stage to determine the top five seeds, followed by a double-elimination finals bracket to crown the champion. This is a friendly event, open to all ages and abilities. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes available for tournament winners! Spaces are limited, so register early to secure your place.
