Where can you play disc golf in Latrobe?

An 18-hole course has been developed at Mathison Park – 19 Mackeys Rd, Churchill

In addition to the new disc golf course, Mathison Park features a brand-new playground, picnic facilities including BBQs, shelters, toilets and walking paths around Lake Hyland. The course begins at Mathison Park Playground.

There are now a limited supply of discs for sale at Latrobe Leisure Churchill.

How do you play disc golf?

A flying disc is thrown from a concrete tee pad toward a target which is the “hole”, or in this case, an elevated metal basket. As a player progresses down the fairway, they must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. Finally, the “putt” lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Landing the disc on top of the basket does not count. To find the next hole, look at the base of each basket for an arrow which shows you the direction of the next tee.

To begin the next hole, the player with the lowest score on the previous hole throws first. For safety reasons always give other park users the right of way. Never throw your flying disk when other players or park users are within range.

How do you keep score in disc golf?

Each throw of your disc adds one point to your score. The winner is the player that completes the course with the least number of throws.

You can keep score using the UDisc app which is the official app of the Professional Disc Golf Association where you can keep score, view courses and track stats. It can be downloaded on both Android and Apple devices.

Alternatively, you can collect a copy of our scorecard from Latrobe Leisure Churchill or Download your score card for Mathison Park to keep track of your score.

Where can you hire flying discs from?

If you have your own flying discs, you can use these on the disc golf course. Latrobe City Council also offers a FREE disc hire service. Each individual can hire one disc at a time FREE of charge.
