The Gippsland Plains Rail Trail is a 63km, mostly flat, trail from Traralgon to Stratford, suitable for walkers, cyclists, equestrians and wheelchairs/mobility scooters.

Visitors can connect to and travel by train at either end of the trail. The trail is a perfect activity with many townships along its route offering accommodation, food and wine, visitor services and amenities.

Bridges cross rivers and waterways, with short detours leading to wineries, artworks and museums along the trail.

Small towns along the trail include Glengarry, Toongabbie, Cowwarr, Dawson, Heyfield, Tinamba, Maffra, and Powerscourt. Plus you can access maps and information easily at Burnett’s Road, which offers ample space to park and prepare bikes if taking the trail on two wheels. Alternatively, three V-Line services operate daily.
