The Old Brown Coal Mine Museum holds an extensive display of memorabilia depicting the early days of the old town and open cut, both known as Brown Coal Mine prior to 1947.

Displays include the Yallourn Open Cut No. 8 Dredger Cabin and the 6 Mega Watt Turbine Generator from the now demolished Hazelwood Power Station.

Explore fascinating photographic memorabilia displays, paintings, clothing, homewares, tools and medals of the original township known as Brown Coal Mine. The Yallourn North & District Historical Society dedicates to future generations a living history of the Old Brown Coal Mine, Yallourn North, Yallourn, and the former State Electricity Commission works area incorporating the Yallourn Power Station.

As the museum is operated by volunteers please call for opening hours before travelling. A must-see for history buffs.
